The project

SolarEdge Automation Machines built yet another machine of the SM-321-HA series for the automatic production of side curtains for trailers. The machine makes a complete curtain with 24 short vertical straps, 15 vertical straps over the full curtain height, 6 horizontal straps over the full curtain length (13,6 m), and 5 vertical reinforcing belts (300 mm) in maximum 20 minutes. Improved sectioning of the vacuum surface of the conveyor belt, very powerful welding heads, and a new extraction system for the welding smoke make this machine the most advanced welding station for side curtains ever developed by our company.

The process

The machine can work from the jumbo roll, but it can also process individual pre-cut or pre-printed PVC panels with speed and great precision. A curtain produced by the SM-321-HA has a length tolerance of only 2 mm over the full length of 13,6 m. The powerful vacuum turbine and the sectioned conveyor belt keep the PVC panels perfectly flat on the surface during the welding cycle reducing wrinkles to an absolute minimum. The webbing and the vertical reincorcing belts are automatically cut. The welding and cutting operations can be uploaded from a dxf drawing or manually set on the touch screen. The machine is operated by a single operator. No specific skills are needed.

The SM-321-HA will be shipped to our customer in the second half of September and is expected to be fully operational mid-October.
